In February 2021 — a day before the newly elected Parliament convened — the Myanmar military staged a coup and arrested the president, leader Aung San Suu Kyi, and more than a hundred elected lawmakers from the National League of Democracy (NLD), which had won a landslide victory in the November 2020 election.

Democracy is under attack... but people have been fighting back!

In the months since the coup, everyday citizens have been fighting every day to restore democracy.

Just a few days ago, Aung San Suu Kyi, the nation’s deposed leader (arrested during the coup) was “convicted” in a show trial as the military crackdown on democracy continues.

As democracy comes under assault around the world, working people are on the frontlines and leading the charge against repressive governments...

Stand in solidarity with them. Support Myanmar’s democracy defenders. Support the strike fund.
